A random purchase based on being attracted to the cover, this slightly dystopian future thriller throws us into a world of tech billionaires planning to survive an apocalypse.
There are some uncomfortably real elements, to the characters and settings, but luckily that’s balanced by other more interesting characters and intrigue in the events occurring.
I was surprised by how much I ended up enjoying it - it felt really well paced and dished out information and action throughout to keep me reading. Part of the story is told via forum posts, which is an interesting format but serves really well to give some exposition and world building.
I’m tempted now to look out for more by Alderman.
