No change in the Tesco Cola Base Rates today, as evidenced in this photograph. However as also visible below one of the brands is on an exciting offer of two for £1.50. Sadly, one does not have the storage facilities to keep a bottle until tomorrow, so such special offers don't count towards Cola Watch.   Also clear is the difference between Windows and Mac Excels In addition, I've browsed the Tesco website to inspect their prices there. The current online price for Coke is 97p, and Pepsi 93p. This suggests that it costs their company 4p to serve me one 500ml bottle. The two for £1.50 offer is identical online though... Further, they advertise their 'price comparison' with other supermarkets. The latest figures they have are for 5th January, so are a little out of date, but we'll go with them... Pepsi was 83p in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons. Coke was 87p in Tesco, 97p in Sainsbury's, 90p in Morrisons and 87p in Asda. Apparently Tesco's agents were unable to locate Pepsi in Asda. I'm intrigued now to see whether the Tesco cola prices drop around the times that they carry out their price comparissons. Further investigation may be required, although it must be noted that the small print does explain that the price comparison does not include Tesco Express stores. |
