Today, I popped into the barber's to get my hair cut. I was a little concerned as it was 25 minutes to closing time and before when I have gone in within the last half hour they have turned me away, but this time they said it was fine, so I took my coat off and settled down.

The barber to become free first was an old lady who looked like a grey haired and older version of Berni, our cleaner from Rootes in the first year of uni. Her bracelets and rings jangled behind me as I sat down in her chair...

She proceeded to attack my head with her comb, battering it and knocking my ear about, and then spraying my hair with rather liberal amounts of water from her squeezy bottle.

After a tortuous fifteen minutes, she took out her hairdryer and began to swish it across my head, bashing me around with her fat hands, knocking her rings into my scalp.

However, I was quite amused when I left the barbers and met this:

Humm, I too have just had my hair cut, and I absolutely hate having it done. Just sitting there with my bad hearing and no glasses makes me feel uneasy, especially when they try and spark up a conversation with me whilst using the razor next to my good ear. Thankfully, the haircut isn’t that bad and the guy didn't try talking to me; though at £11 I think it is a little steep for a man's hair cut...

£9.50!? For a haircut!? Good grief, they'd better throw in some extra service if I was going to pay that much. I can still get change from a fiver at my barber. Not that I've been in a while, I suppose I should account for inflation...

You might not have noticed Matt, but they never actually remove any hair from you, just wobble it around a bit.
