This water pressure sucks | 28th June 2006, 10:47
Okay, perhaps the title exaggerates a little - negative water pressure it is not.

However it is very annoying - after all, I am used to the water supply in Heronbank, where it would fly out of the taps at such velocity that it ricocheted off the bath or sink and sprayed all over the bathroom, and where the sound of a bath pouring could be heard throughout the length of the corridor.

Here however I can turn on the taps and come back ten minutes later to find the bath half full.

Normally the slow bath taps would not be a problem. Normally I would have a problem with the low pressure of the water in the shower, as I have blogged about before. However the shower has decided to break - apparently it is a common problem that the ball bearing in the overflow gets clogged and blocks the water from reaching the shower head. So every morning I am having to bathe. The baths is too shallow, narrow and short. Also, the hot water tank appears to be ever so slightly too small to fill the bath, which is a bit of a nuisance.

Worst however, is having to wash my hair with water poured from a jug... I've not had to do that ever since I was tall enough to reach the shower... about 14 years ago.

Ah yes, Heronbank water - so powerful one could balance the shower head against a vertical palm by pressure alone. The water pressure here may be lacking, but at least a bath full of the stuff doesn't have a blue tinge to it from the chlorine and chemicals required to keep the environmental health officers happy...
