I noticed during my many visits to this site over the past few days that there seems to be a reluctance to comment on these blogs. There are I suppose two reasons why this could be:

1. No-one is visiting.
2. People are scared of commenting.

Now, the first isn't true, as we have server logs telling us how many people have visited, and there's definitely more than just us. So, that leaves the second option. Why would people be scared of commenting?

Is it perhaps because no-one likes to be the first with their name on a list? In the same way that when you want people to sign up for something you always have to put a couple of fake names on the top of the list to encourage people that they aren't going to be alone.

Well, we considered that, and so I posted the first comment on the site, on one of Ash's blog entries. This hasn't worked though.

Is there some sort of unwritten rule that those of us with blogs here can't comment here, and that's why it hasn't been kick started? Can't be really, as I posted a comment to dispel this myth.

So what does that leave? Why no comments? There's a comment box below - why don't you leave me a comment telling me why you don't comment?

I think it's because people don't want to be the idiot who posts first.

maybe the entry doesn't need to be commented on? Why would you think people would be scared to comment when they could be anonymous? If they weren't anonymous you might not know who they are anyway.

Maybe you should write something that people have an opinion on. Like this. Why are you so bothered about people commenting?
