But WHY is it pronounced like that? (I know of a Dafydd whose name is pronounced 'davith'; I do not understand that, either.)

'Davith' would be the Welsh pronunciation. In Welsh, the double 'd' is roughly equivalent to the English 'th' sound. Our Daffyd is not Welsh. His name is Dutch, therefore it is pronounced in the Dutch manner. We seem to have this question fairly often - perhaps we should put it on the about page.

Being Dutch, I should add to that last statement that we don't actually add an 'r' in front of a double 'f' here. The 'hard F' in 'Dar-Fid' fits though.

Yes, I only put the 'r' in to emphasise the sound. I suppose perhaps 'Daa-Fid' (to rhyme with the word for the sound which sheep make) would be better?

Aww, now I can't make my joke about Daffyd being Daft anymore. Really it was a Very Bad Joke in the first place though, so it's not at all a loss. Dutch, though... Hmm. The Welsh Dafydd guessed German when I asked him. ;)

... for a Dutchman, I think 'David' would actually be the correct spelling, if you say 'Daa-Fid' out loud in English. But if you pronounce 'David' in English, you get 'Day-vid'. Aaaah I'm confused 0_o

I would venture to guess that the bars are made of silver, or something, that's designed to impede Drow shadow magic. Hooray for unintended benefits!

Spoke to KF yesterday via Skype... he promised to reply to you 'later'. The gist I get is that when his computer is eventually fixed he has plans for Team Nexus.

I think 'new' is relative.
