The Hardy Boys accidentally find themselves drawn into a real-life game of Wizards and Warriors (I’m sure that for legal reasons this is entirely distinct from Dungeons & Dragons) in this 1989 book 99 in the series.

The danger is very real, but the characterisations are off - Joe is much more short tempered and violent than ever before.

For the most part, it does feel like a tribute to D&D - there’s just one moment where it feels like they are bullying another teenager for their participation in the game.

An exciting and interesting take on the series.
