Vote by Conscience | 23rd March 2008, 09:14
According to the good people over at the BBC, Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Conner, "said Catholic MPs would want to vote on the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill according to their conscience."

I have a sneaking suspicion that what he means is:

"Catholic MPs should vote how we tell them, not how the Labour Party tells them."

Afterall, Blair was a closet Catholic and often voted with his conscience but against the views of the church.

I conclude that Cardinals must learn to say what they mean, rather than trying to pretend everyone agrees.
